Update: This is now confirmed (as of 03/23/2012) that it is a Type IIp supernova in M95.
A few days ago (March 18-19) there were reports of Supernova in M95 a bar-spiral galaxy which is 38 million light years away. The type of the supernova is yet to be determined. If confirmed, this will be the third supernova in popular bright Messier Galaxies (Whirlpool – June, Pinwheel – Aug) in about 9 months.
